SLAAM Cares is a nonprofit group based out of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Originally starting out as a small basketball club, SLAAM has grown into one of the most premier sports organizations within the greater Pittsburgh area. Since establishing SLAAM, founder Jamal Woodson has provided children of all ages the opportunity to succeed on the court, in the classroom, and in the community through the game of basketball.
Wanting to enhance the community aspect of the program, SLAAM Cares highlights to student athletes the importance of giving back. With a focus on the homelessness epidemic, the organization aims at reducing the number of families living on the streets or in shelters. Job training and stable living conditions are provided to families through the money and resources raised by each individual SLAAM team.
